Walk the walk but don't talk the talk! "How to talk about the work ethically"

Walk the walk but don't talk the talk! "How to talk about the work."

Often, as interpreting professionals, we forget the relatively small size and complexity of relationships within the Deaf community.   Members of this community often know each other and share friends and acquaintances.  If we are not careful in our communications, our clients’ confidentiality may be jeopardized - a situation that may call into doubt the professionalism and ethics of our occupation as a whole.

This workshop will discuss the motivations we might have for discussing our work experiences. It will teach successful strategies for speaking about the details of our work while maintaining the ethical standards required of our trade. Throughout the workshop we will talk about “how talking about our work” affects Deaf and hearing communities.  (STUDENT CONFERENCE)
