Workshop

Keep Your Head in the Game

Interpreting in an educational setting can be a rewarding experience. However, the familiarity can lead to complacency in the job.  Clients deserve our very best attention every time we pick up our hands. Therefore it is imperative that we learn what complacency looks like, remember who it affects, how to combat it, and keep our work fresh and rewarding to us. In this workshop, we will look at not only what interests us in our jobs as interpreters, but also what causes us to flip to “auto-pilot,” and what can lead to complacency. We will learn to identify where we need to use caution, engage in group activities designed to help us learn why we “check out,” and how to stop it from happening. This workshop will help us find ways to challenge ourselves to continue growing both professionally and personally.
