Workshop Synopsis: Explicit and implicit bias exist in our society, and often as interpreters we are unaware of the impact it has on our work. Implicit bias, the attitudes or stereotypes that effect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner, can influence our perceptions and interactions without the interpreter being aware of it. This workshop will explore bias. Participants will learn about examples of biases that happen every day, and discuss and explore ways to safely unpack and address biases.
