Walk The Walk But Don't Talk The Talk! How to Talk About The Work
Often, as Interpreters, we forget the small size and complexity of relationships within the Deaf community. They often know each other and share friends and acquaintances. If we are not careful in our communications, our clients' confidentiality may be jeopardized - a situation that may call into doubt the professionalism and ethics of our occupation. We will discuss motivations we might have for discussing our work experience and teach strategies for speaking about the details of our work while maintaining ethical strandards. This workshop will demonstrate perspectives from Deaf professionals, professional Interpreters and hearing professionals.
*Note: This is a six hour workshop. While it is recommended you attend both parts, CEUs will be awarded independently. You do not have to attend both sessions to earn CEUs.
