SIGHT TRANSLATION: English to ASL, HOW??

Have you ever struggled with your sign translation skills in ASL?  If so, this workshop is for you!

Sight translation is the process of translating a printed text in English into ASL, which poses several challenges in this task.  This workshop will provide a general understanding of how to apply sight translation techniques such as figurative language, lexical meanings, rules of ASL grammar and articulation.

In-depth focus will enhance participants’ ability to communicate information and ideas through signs, gestures, classifiers and fingerspelling so that a person who is monolingual would have the same accessibility to understand a printed document in English.

Workshop activities will include using various texts in English such as insurance policy agreement, educational documents, annulment documents, etc.  Participants attending this workshop will be surely entertained!
