When the ADA does not “Complete the Well:” A Look at Other Federal Mandates which are Viable Tools in Advocacy
The ADA is over 20 years old but there is much misinformation about its application. This presentation will demystify and also bring to surface other mandates which oftentimes “complete the well” for persons who are deaf/severely hard of hearing and in need of effective communication services to achieve equal access to goods and services. If you are unfamiliar with the oil industry terminology “complete the well;” it means, to finish work on a well and bring it to a productive status. The presentation will also look at directional drilling (the intentional deviation of a well bore from the vertical) which allows for reaching subsurface areas laterally remote from the point where the bit enters the earth. If I lost you with this oilfield terminology, it is where we will learn of other mandates where the ADA does not complete the well.
